In light of talk I did recently about shadow work and the many many articles I see lately of self help gurus embracing anger, and pain, and shadow work as more powerful than “love and light bullshit” (as I have seen it referred to many times), I have written this piece from MY perspective. Please take what resonates and leave what doesn’t.
We may feel the feelings, of lack, anger, pain, hurt, frustration, but we are NOT those feelings. Those feelings are pieces of information that draw attention to a lack based belief or a harmful circumstance in our lives that is not communicating love to us. So when we are feeling them it is good to recognize them and ask why they are there from the perspective of LOVE for ourselves, not criticism or fear. When we can do that, we shed light on truth in love, rather than fear in lack. You do not need to be fixed, you are already whole, and it is because we are already whole that we feel pain when we interact with a belief or a situation that is not aligned with the truth of our wholeness. We didn’t come to be perfect, there is no such thing, it does not exist. But joy, happiness, creativity, those ARE real, and those feelings have nothing to do with perfection and everything to do with full acceptance of who we are and the differences among us that make us unique and beautiful in this physical world.
Don’t justify your pain as if it is needed to be happy. Instead, see your pain as the awareness it is “something just ain’t right here” and bring the light of your consciousness to it. The recent full moon, and the upcoming eclipses are bringing some things to the surface that are no longer serving us. The reason it is not longer serving us? Because we have raised in vibration!!! That is good news my friends. When we are noticing that something is no longer working in our lives and that something needs to change it is because we are raising in awareness of LOVE. You are being made aware of the what is “lacking” so that you can bring that compassion and love to yourself even in the feeling of that lack. The only way pain becomes less is by connecting to love.
Some of us are feeling the lack and saying “we have work to do on ourselves, there must be something bad within me” or “I must go into this pain and study it, and make it part of me, accept it”, except it doesn’t work. You can shift an idea about yourself to make it not “wrong” or “bad”, or you can shift a belief about the world so that you are no longer afraid of the lack that you are believing in, but you can NOT make a lack based belief or a harmful behavior pattern within yourself be something that is “good”. You cannot stay in pain and say “this is what I need, I am happy in my angry state of being and I fuel my anger with knowing that my pain is the direct cause of it, and that in order to avoid my pain I must consciously go back to my anger about it”. It cannot be that God intended for us all to suffer and bring through the pain of existing on earth in order to go back and say I had enough of that pain let’s go back and try the opposite of that pain and become more pained in the process.
When DOES light come in for us then? When have we had enough of the suffering, how much pain do we need to endure before we realize that anger is not the solution, or rather a band-aid on a process of lack belief systems that began as a child? When do we finally say that anger is NOT a result of loving myself, but rather the result of being in pain for so long that I needed another emotion to pull me out of staying in the position of receiving more pain? When do I say that anger is no longer working for me so I must assume another identity in order to gain clarity? When do I know enough is enough?
When the anger is no longer working for you, when the pain of existing in anger is no longer the savior of the pain you were in but instead becomes the pain of living. You know you have had enough when the doors of pain re-open because the anger of fear is keeping you from the light of who you are in love and joy for yourself.
If you feel that shadow work must be done let it be in the aspect that you are utilizing love in order to communicate the heart of motivation to study the pain you are in. Don’t let the pain be the reason you come from lack into abundance, rather let the light you shed on the pain become the thing that wakes you up to your higher purpose of living on earth.
Do not make your pain the primary energy from which to heal yourself, but make the light of your consciousness be the thing that reveals to you that the ultimate choice of your life is to be in love with who you are.
To discover how life works you often come to the aspect of pain, only to realize that it doesn’t do anything for you except to make you realize that the pain you are in is a result of not having the ability to raise in joyful expansion of who you are. The pain is NOT the reason for you transmutation into light. But it is the process of understanding that in lack comes the available space for creativity, and in pain comes the awareness that lack is the focus of my attention for too long, rather than the light of my being here. In other words, friend yourself in love and joy and forgive us for saying this but fuck the energy of painful shadow work. Only those that want to escape their pain into anger will work on their shadow and once they are free of the pain they will come to know their anger as false empowerment, and they will turn to the energy of love again. Thank you and have a wonderful day! -Lauren
